Turbat May 4, 2017: Members of the Senate Committee on CPEC visiting Gawadur and Turbat today visited the Zikri community in their walled abode in Turbat Thursday and assured the community elders of their support.
Zikri community has largely been ostracized and excluded as it lived under siege and threat of extremist elements some years ago.
Senators who visited the worship place and the pilgrimage site included Dr Karim Khawaja and Farhatullah Babar of PPP, Daud Achakzai of ANP, Usman Kakar PKMAP and Mir Kabir Shahi of National Party. They were accompanied by the district Nazim Turbat.
The elders of the Zikri community took the senators to their place of worship, the shelter houses for the pilgrims and the sacred Koh-e-Murad where devotees perform pilgrimage. The visiting senators were also apprised of the difficulties faced by the beleaguered community. The senators assured members of the community of their support in alleviating the problems faced by the community. The community elders appreciated the gesture of senators in visiting their colony and worship places.
