KARACHI, April 26: Pakistan Peoples Party has congratulated former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the end of disqualification period handed out by a former political judge five years ago.
“Yousuf Raza Gilani stood by the oath he took as Prime Minister to protect the Constitution of Pakistan and the rule of law. He stood firmly by the ideology of the Pakistan Peoples Party and safeguarded the 1973 Constitution given under by able leadership of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,” said a statement issued by the PPP today.
PPP further said that Yousuf Raza Gilani stepped down to avert the clash of institutions and to strengthen Pakistan’s fledgling democracy.
“At the end of his disqualification the Party, its leadership and the workers congratulate him for his courage and unwavering loyalty demonstrated by his actions,” the statement concluded.
