Former President Zardari paid rich tributes to Nigar Ahmed
Islamabad, 25 February 2017: Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari has condoled the death of women rights activist Nigar Ahmed who passed away on Friday in Lahore.
Former President in his condolence message said that he was grieved and saddened by the news of death of Nigar Ahmed who spearheaded movement against Dictator General Zia-ul-Haq as a member of Women Action Forum in 1980s. She was a beacon of hope for the urban and rural women alike. She worked all her life for women social, economic, legal and political empowerment. Nigar Ahmed was awarded Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah Life Time Achievement by the PPP government in 2010 for her services for Pakistani society especially women. She was co-founder of Aurat Foundation, an organization synonym with women empowerment in Pakistan. She will be remembered by her friends, followers and democrats.
Asif Ali Zardari also prayed to Almighty Allah for grant of eternal peace to the departed soul and strength and fortitude for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
