Islamabad January 7, 2017: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of Abdul Hafeez Lakho renowned lawyer and former Advocate General Sindh who died in Karachi early Saturday morning.
Abdul Hafeez Lakho served as a counsel of founder Chairman of PPP and former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in the politically motivated murder case registered by the then military dictatorship.
Hafeez Lakho was not only an outstanding lawyer but also a committed democrat who suffered hardships and endured imprisonment during the MRD movement in early 80’s, the former President said in his condolence message.
In addition to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Hafeez Lakho also served as counsel for Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
Hafeez Lakho has earned a unique place in the legal profession as defender of all those wronged by power and pelf, Zardari said.
The former President also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of Hafeez Lakho and patience to all bereaved to bear the loss with equanimity.
