Islamabad November 18, 2016: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of ANP leader former Senator and former MPA Haji Adeel Friday morning.

Paying glowing tributes to Haji Adeel the former President said that late Haji Adeel was a true democrat and a committed ideological political worker who fought tenaciously for the rights of his province and indeed for the rights of all marginalized and dispossessed.

Haji Adeel did not mince words when it came to espousing the political and economic rights of the province to which he belonged and for the rights of people of less developed areas be it Gilgit Baltistan or Balochistan or tribal areas, he said.

His unrelenting fight for renaming the province as Pakhtunkhwa was truly heroic that earned him the admiration of many including his adversaries, the former President said.

“I vividly recall the spontaneity of Haji Adeel’s profuse jubilation when in my address to the UN General Assembly I referred to the province as Pakhtunkhwa even before the province had been formally renamed”, he said.

To me Haji Adeel was like a brother, Zardari said.

Haji Adeel was also a man of great courage. For the past over one year he fought a crippling ailment with great determination while at the same time firmly believing in the inevitability of death and preparing to embrace it.

Asif Ali Zardari offered sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant peace to the departed soul and fortitude to the aggrieved to bear this great loss with equanimity.
