Karachi: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for Labour, Human Resources and Sindh Employees Social SecurityInstitution (SESSI) Chairman Senator Saeed Ghani has presented the idea of labourers’ registration through Benazir Mazdoor (Labour) Card (BMC) linking with the national database and registration authority (NADRA).
In this context, the adviser had held a meeting with the officials of the SESSI and NADRA at SESSI head office in Karachi Thursday.
The prime agenda of the meeting was to discuss about the possibility of linking Sindh Social Security’s registration card with the NADRA.
Senator Ghani had laid the idea of BMC soon after he took charge of his office as adviser to Sindh CM for Labour with an aim to enable the workers to get quick and hassle-free access by the labourers registered with the SESSI. Accordingly, NADRA was approachedfor a workable initial plan last month. The NADRA officials had briefed himabout future map of BMC and on how it would bridge the gap between the labourers and the facilities being provided by SESSI.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan People’s party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wants every labourer should be provided with social security facilities in Sindh province, Ghani said, adding that the basic purpose of SESSI is to ensure provisioning of health and education facilities to the registered labourers and their families.

The biometric system would ensure transparency whereas it would help the registered laborers to receive facilities through one window operations, concluded Senator Ghani.
