Karachi. 26.10.2016: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Najmi Alam, Waqar Mehdi and Lateef Mughal have advised PTI Chairman Imran Khan to review his decision about sit-in at Islamabad because of tense situation on eastern border and terrorism inside Pakistan. The sit-in might open venues for anti-democratic forces to establish their agenda against democracy. In any situation, it would be Imran Khan and his party to be blamed for weakening democracy in Pakistan.
In a statement issued by PPP Media Cell Sindh, they said that the democracy is still in process of securing its roots in the country and hundred percent transparency and speedy accountability could only be ensured under strong democracy. The sit-in at Islamabad would tarnish all efforts for strengthening the democracy and nothing would come out of it except heavy damages to country’s democratic system.
They said that it is the blessing of the democracy that PTI has its provincial government in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa despite their weak position with regard to required number of MPAs in the provincial assembly.
They said all the democratic forces and parties of the country are on side while Imran Khan is on the opposite corner, which is a manifest of pure authoritarian mindset. It is imperative that Imran Khan should realise the overall tense situation on borders and inside the country and should prove him to be a mature politician.
