Also condemns firing by Indian troops across working boundary
Islamabad October 25, 2016: former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of former emir of Qatar Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday.
Besides laying and strengthening the foundations of Pakistan-Qatar relations Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al Thani played a pioneering role in the setting up of the Gulf Cooperation Council giving new strength to the Arab States of the Gulf and to the Muslim world, the former President said in his condolence message.
It was during Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad’s time that Qatar began to tap its vast energy resources turning it into energy powerhouse and the modernization spurred by it transformed the country into one the world’s richest nations, he said.
Mr. Asif Ali Zardari offered his condolences to the former ruler’s family, the government and the people of Qatar. He also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of late Qatari emir Sheikh Khalifa Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Meanwhile the former President also condemned the firing by Indian troops across the Working Boundary the other day resulting in the death of two civilians including an infant and injuries to seven others.
Zardari said that unprovoked firing across borders escalating tensions cannot serve the cause of peace in the region nor serve the interests of the two countries and called for restraint.
