Karachi. 5.9.2016: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPAs Sajid Jokhio and Jawaid Nagori have said that Karachi Electric is involved in minting money from the consumers of electricity and hence the company does not have any right for demand in increase of tariff as it has submitted a formal request to the NEPRA for topping up the per unit tariff by Rs.0.56, which is unacceptable. The NEPRA should avoid considering KE’s request and should seek explanation for looting the consumers through bogus billings and sending highl;y inflated bills to helpless consumers.
In a statement issued from PPP Media Cell, Sindh, they said that the fact is that the KE is intending to grab money from the consumers as much as possible prior to selling its shares and there is a strong likelihood of handing the company to a Chinese operator soon.
They asked the NEPRA to ban any increase in tariff and review the KE’s spending on fuel.
