Islamabad, 27 May 2016: Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Mir Aijaz Khan Jakhrani has accused Federal Government of destroying agriculture due to its anti-grower policies.
In a statement Mr. Jakhrani expressed concerns over news that the government is deliberating on doing away with subsidy on fertilizer. He said that growers are already living hand to mouth because they are not being paid appropriate prices of their crops by this government. It seems that the government is intentionally destroying agricultural sector and wants to amass wealth through kickbacks and commissions by a policy of import of agricultural produce and investing in off shore companies.
He warned the government of serious consequences of taking subsidy away on fertilizers as the country will be engulfed in food crisis. He said PPP will strongly oppose anti-grower policies of the government within and outside Parliament.
