Karachi. 11.5.2016: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNAs Shahjehan Balouch and Dr Shahida Rehmani have while expressing serious displeasure rejected the claims of the Karachi Electric (KE) in which the company said it is shedding load for 7 hours as per announced schedule of load shedding.
The KE’s statement is itself a confession that it has utterly failed to add even a single watt of electricity to the national grid since day one the company was privatized and sold to Al-Abraj, a UAE-based consortium of investors that seriously lack experience and potential for running a power company. The KE has on the other hand, sold al precious assets and even the copper linings to the tune of many billions and the money was transferred from Pakistan. The KE has also minted billion from inflated monthly electricity bills sent to the consumers.
They said the KE is an open enemy company to Pakistan’s economic growth and is on a mission to destroy Pakistan’s economy.
They said the KE is lying to the people and everyone through press statements while the reality on ground is totally different.
The KE has since long been provoking the Karachiites, the residents of a highly sensitive city, by enforcing blackouts for prolonged hours and even for many days. The 12 to 14 hours blackouts in New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani, Korangi, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, Orangi Town, Baldia Town, Garden east, Sher Shah, Keamari, Lyari and Old City areas is common.
They said as the country’s institutions are chasing the money launderers and corrupt in all sections of life, keeping eyes closed from the KE is tantamount to compromising with the country’s sovereignty.
