Karachi. 27.4.2016: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Taj Haider has expressed his grave concern over moving of the Sui Southern Gas company court for stay order against the Pakistan Steel at the behest of federal government. The federal government is taking steps for the closure of the Pakistan steel and hence the gas supply to this national asset is being denied and has covertly pushed the SSGC to seek stay order so that the supply of gas should remain suspended and thus the ways for sale of this national asset could be paved.
In his statement, Senator Haider said that the federal government is under a planned scheme ruining Pakistan Steel because this was established by the slain PPP chairman Shaheed Zulfiquar Ali Bhutto. The federal government has through patronizing the importers lobby caused Pakistan Steel to remain shut despite the fact that this has a capacity of 1.3 million metric ton of steel for the country.
He said that the country had paid a huge sum of foreign exchange for the import of steel and steel by-products to the tune of 2.6 billion. Contrary to aims of the federal government, the workforce of Pakistan Steel has the passion and capacity for the revival of Pakistan Steel and for promoting the steel production capacity of this national asset.
Senator Haider demanded the federal government should immediately withdraw the case of the SSGC for stay from court and ensure gas supply to Pakistan Steel and take the required steps for its revival.
