KARACHI, April 20: The on going polio eradication campaign in Karachi was disrupted by, yet, another terrorist attack on April 20, 2016, that took the lives of seven policemen guarding the polio vaccinators in the area of Orangi Town, Karachi.
On this incident, Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari; Rotary Amabassador and former UN Amabassador for Polio Eradication, has expressed her heart felt condolences, and condemned the attack stating it as an act of terrorism.
Ms. Bhutto has expressed praise and honour to the policemen, who laid down their lives to protect the children from crippling disease. She regards the policemen as brave martyrs, and assure her support to their families.
Furthermore, Ms. Bhutto referred to the attackers as “beasts trying to hinder the nation’s progress.” She said that Pakistan is a resilient nation, and will continue to fight polio until its eradication. “Pakistanis stand united to defeat the beasts to provide a safe future to the children,” she added.
