Karachi, 12 April: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ms. Margaret Adomson along with Dr. Mehreen Faruqi, an Australian of Pakistani origin and member of the New South Wales state parliament called on Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House today.
Ms. Margaret Adomson and Dr. Mehreen Faruqi disussed the future of Pakistan’s youth particularly their aspirations, prospects and political awareness and engagement.
Dr. Faruqi, who is also her party’s spokesperson for the status of women and youth, also shared her experiences from Australia.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari said that the youth of Pakistan need to play a very active role in every sector of society to contribute to real prosperity. She said that in the most recent local bodies elections, Pakistan Peoples Party for the first time in history , reserved 5% seats
for youth in every Union Council .This ensured youth participation and representation on a grass-root level in our local government system of Sindh.
Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Australian delegates discussed mutual interests and emphasized to expand the cooperation in the field of women and youth development and engagement.
