Islamabad: 26 January 2016: President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians and former President of Pakistan Asif Alo Zardari has condoled the death of renowned Punjabi poetess Nasreen Anjum Bhatti.
Nasreen Anjum Bhatti was a voice of dissent during General Ziaul Haq’s dictatorship. She paid tributes to Quaid-e-Awam Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at the time when he was imprisoned and then he was judicially murdered. She struggled against dictatorship and for restoration of democracy with utmost dedication. She was a government servant and had put her service on stake. She did not succumbed to any pressure and continued to express herself through her poetry.
Former President paid her glowing tribute and said that political activists will remember her for a long time to come. Her struggle will continue to inspire political workers.
Asif Ali Zardari prayed to Almighty Allah to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
