Karachi. 19.1.2016: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPAs Jawaid Nagori, Sajid Jokhio, Shahina Sher Ali and Shamim Mumtaz have condemned NEPRA for approving Rs.0.57 increase in per unit of electricity consumed by consumers in Karachi. This increase is meant to provide undue financial gain to the Karachi Electric.
In a statement issued from the PPP Media Cell Sindh, the PPP MPAs demanded the federal government to remove NEPRA Chairman Tariq Saddozai and initiate enquiry on him for favouring the Karachi Electric.
They sad that though the oil prices have greatly reduced in open international market but neither the federal government so far gave any benefit to the people nor the NEPRA announced proportionate decrease in electricity tariff but instead the tariff has been enhanced on the pretext of fuel adjustment charges.
They said the federal government is leaving no opportunity to agonise the people of Sindh and Karachi while there is a vivid rise in anguish and the people are in great fury on loot from the Karachi Electric under the aegis of the NEPRA on instruction of the federal government, which has deliberately turned its eyes on the opposite side.
The PPP MPAs appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo Moto notice on increasing in electricity tariff.
