More than 3 lac unemployed youths have been provided job opportunities direct & indirectly since PPP taken over Sindh Govt
KARACHI Dec, 08: The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that more than 3 lac unemployed youths have been provided job opportunities direct and indirectly since PPP taken over the Sindh Govt. He said that to provide job opportunities was the manifesto of the PPP as such , Technical Training has also been provided to more than 2 lacs unemployed youths, he added and said that this process to be continued under Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme (SBBYDP), Sindh Technical & Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) and Poverty Alleviation Programme to minimize the unemployment in this province. This he observed while addressing the launching ceremony of Competency Based Training (CBT) Programe & Skill Development Mella organized by STEVTA Management at local hotel this evening. Addressing the Ceremony the Chief Minister Sindh said that when we PPP came into power in 2008 the unemployment was the biggest issue of the Sindh, There were Thousands of Youths who were running pillar to post to get job. He said that though we started to provide jobs in the public sector and at least 40,000 jobs were provided at that time but we felt that it was not sufficient. He said that later on we put the innovative idea of skill development and Technical Training Programm in the field and established STEVTA 2009-2010. Simultaneously we also established SBBYD Programme to ensue the employment through skills. He said that by 2013 we provided Technical Training to more 1,80,000 Youth who mostly got their jobs in public & private sectors. He said that we did not stopped our efforts but convieved another program for poverty alleviation and it provided skill development and Business opportunities to the Thousands of Woman in the upper Sindh.
He said that one can imagine that only SBBYD Programe is offering training in 72 different trades to the trainees in Sindh Similarly, STEVTA is providing Training in 25 Technologies presenlty 30,000 youths only of Karachi are getting Technical Training from STEVTA. He said that Sindh Govt is planning to expand these organizations and increase their scope to maximize skill development, training and job opportunities to the people of Sindh through their institutional link. He said that still there are Thousands of unemployed Youth waiting for their careers opportunities and now it was the big challenge to these organizations to cope with situation with success. The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that since our 70% employment economy was based on agriculture it is therefore the Technical learning in this sector was very much important. He advised the management to introduce more and more training courses in Agriculture sector and its related sub sector to ensure more skilled manpower and jobs opportunities to the people of rural areas. He said that it was but natural that until & unless, employment is not generated or purchasing power of the people is not raised targets of the prosperity cannot achieved in society. Lauding the performance of the STEVTA and SBBYD Programe the Chief Minister said that role of private sector for providing jobs opportunities to the skilled manpower cannot be ignored. However he appreciated the co-operation of the private sector by which his govt enable to absorb the hundreds of thousands of people in their organizations. SM Kaleem Makki MD STEVTA in his welcome address, highlighted the performance of STEVTA and introduction of competency Based Training in Sindh and said that it was the more relevant to the industry and will ensure develop workforce with skill that not only to provide jobs opportunities to the Trainee people but cater to the needs of industry. Among others, Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany at Karachi Mr. Rainer, Director GIZ-TVET Reform Support Progrma Mr. Hans Bruns, President Employers Federation of Pakistan Khowaja Nouman, President WEBCOP Ahsanullah Khan and others spoke on this occasion later the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim ali Shah distributed the awards among the trainee on accout of their best performances and visited various stalls and scientific equipments, Handicrafts and Food items , prepared and demonstrated by the participants of the Mela. The large number of academician, industrial community and senior officers attended the ceremony.
