Karachi. 3.11.2015: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Karachi Division President Syed Najmi Alam and General Secretary Nadeem Bhutto and Secretary Information Syed Manzoor Abbas said the traffic police have taken a positive step in a right direction to appeal the people of the city to obtain driving license, which would in future cause a decline in road trauma and deaths from accident. Under this scheme, all drivers would undergo a driving test and thus the traffic management would also be positively affected and improved.

However, the treatment done to the applicants, who had visited driving license branches was highly condemnable. It was a good sign that the traffic police authorities had taken prompt notice and action on manhandling of the applicants.

In a statement issued from PPP Media Cell Sindh, they said the traffic police department is being revolutionized and is making its way forward to become a modern national institution and the different campaigns such as campaign for wearing helmet and obtaining a driving license and acquiring full knowledge about traffic system are part of this modernisation thought. However, it is natural to make mistakes but no mistakes are ignored and the responsible are subject to accountability, which also is a step forward for ensuring good governance.

They said the PPP Karachi Division has also decided to play an active role and in this regard, different observer teams have been formed to observe the process of obtaining the driving license and approach the authorities concerned for immediate resolution of problems to be faced by the applicants.

They appealed to the applicants to get the driving license at the earliest because this document would be of their benefit throughout life.
