Chief Minister Sindh Approved Sindh PROVINCIAl Roads Improvement Project FOR 328 Kilometres Worth 19780 MILLIONs


KARACHI OCT 21-2015:The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has approved the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Sindh Provincial Roads Improvement Project (SPRIP) aimed to extend and improve the Six Provincial Roads having total length of 328 kilometres at estimated cost of Rs. 19780/- million ( $ 197.85) and directed the executing authority to complete the construction work by the end of 2017. This he decided while presiding over meeting regarding implementation on SPRIP held at Chief Minister House Karachi today. The Senior Minister for Finance, Planning & Development Syed Murad Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary P&D  Ejaz Ali Khan, Secretary to CM Alumuddin Bullo, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Works & Services Ejaz Memon, Additional Secretary W&S Syed Zahid Hussain Shah and other officers of concerned departments, attended the meeting. The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah  during the meeting was briefed that six important provincial roads including Thull to Kandh Kot having length up to 44 kilo meters, Sheranpur to Ratodero with 36 k.m, Khyber to Sanghar Via Tando Adam 64 k.m, Sanghar to Mirpurkhas Via Sindh 63 k.m Tando Muhammad Khan to Badin 66 k.m and Digri to Naukot having length 54 k.m would be improved & extended up to wrid to 24 feet carriage way with Asphalt surface and 8 feet shoulder from each side.       Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that better communication network not only to facilitate the people for transportation but also creates the income & employment opportunities especially for the farming community of the concerned areas. He said that these surveys based identified Six Roads which included in the folder of this project were important and must be completed by the end of 2017. He said that Sindh Government shortly to launch another mega development projects in Roads Sector, to improve the Nawab Shah to Sanghar and Hyderabad to Tando Muhammad Khan Roads under public private partnership (PPP) mode of investment in addition to its other ADP schemes of roads to facilitate the people and enhance the volume of business in the areas concerned. The Senior Sindh Minister for Finance & Planning & Development Syed Murad Ali Shah while taking in the meeting said that this Sindh Provincial Road improvement project has also been got cleared from the CDWP on August 31, 2015. He said that as per soft loan agreement, the ADB to share 87% of the project cost whereas 13% would be provided by Sindh Government. The Additional Chief Secretary Planning & Development Ejaz Ali Khan, while briefing the meeting said that actually, Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been agreed to provide this soft loan in appreciation of Sindh Government performance and success fully completion of Flood Emergency Reconstruction Project (FERP) within its due time and cost and even Works & Services department had became able to complete 920 k.m of roads against 800 k.m. agreed in project. The Secretary Works & Services Ejaz Memon while briefing in the meeting informed that after agreement with Sindh Government on this project the ADB assigned the feasibility study to the consultants and added that these Six Provincial Roads included on the basis of their consultants surveys, data collection, financial and economic analysis. He said that Asian Development Bank (ADB) had earlier given Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) US $ 0.7 million, which according to him was not part of the loan and was separate grant. He said that this project is also include helping Sindh Government to prepare Sindh Roads Network Master Plan (SRNMP) and conduct a feasibility study for those high priority roads. He said that government of Sindh shall implement on the that proposed master plan after approving it by 2019, whereas ADB will assist Sindh Government to implement on it through various financing facilities such as multiple tranche facility
