KARACHI, October 2: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party has said that failure of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take action against PML-N and PTI candidates from NA-122 Lahore by-election for spending lavishly and excessively on their campaign will convert the whole process into a mockery of election exercise.

It may be recalled that PPP candidate Barrister Aamir Hassan has already complained to ECP that the opponents Ayaz Sadiq of PML-N and Aleem Khan of PTI have already spent multiply on their campaign than limits set by ECP.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that both the opponent parties of the PPP have made Lahore by-election into a ‘game of billionaires’ where voters have been made to look like silent spectators while these billionaires spending extremely large amounts to steal the election.

PPP Chairman said his Party won’t allow such stark forms of rigging through use of ill-gotten money to influence people through such tactics as it was the Party which introduced one-person one-vote policy in the country.

He said it was the responsibility of the ECP to not only halt the spending-spree by PML-N and PTI candidates but punish them under its Code of Conduct and rules to discourage the trend and allow a level-playing field for all the contesting candidates.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Lahore is the birth-place of PPP and its candidate Barrister Aamir Hassan will come out with flying colors if ECP fulfilled its responsibility for holding free, fair and transparent election without the influence of money.
